Robin Lane Music
Robin's musical journey began in elementary school through church and school choirs in his hometown of Farmington, CT. Robin started learning to play the cello at age 7. By age 10 he was studying privately through The Hartt School at the University of Hartford. After 7 years of study, Robin put the cello aside to dedicate more time towards cultivating other interests throughout high school.
Robin moved to Amherst, MA after graduating from high school to major in Social Thought and Political Economy at The University of Massachusetts. It was there, through African Drumming and Music Theory courses, that Robin rediscovered his passion for music. He withdrew from UMass to devote himself to a private, full time music education. He was fortunate to find his first mentor, Dave Thomas in Holyoke, MA, where he studied piano, music theory, and composition.
Robin has since relocated to Rockland, ME, to continue pursuing his music education even more intensively at Midcoast Music Academy (MCMA) and Woodsound Studios, studying cello, drums, voice, piano, digital music, and jazz theory.
Robin performs classical, jazz and contemporary works for public events, private events and weddings throughout Maine, and records, engineers, and produces his own music, along with the music of a growing number of local musicians, out of his home studio in Rockland. He also serves as the Operations Manager for Midcoast Music Academy - supporting young musicians and encouraging music education in the community.
Robin creates his music with the purpose of provoking conscious thought within the individual and society, bringing peace to the minds of the individual, society, and the environment in which we live.
